More reasons for joining Salisbury Online Speakers Club
We have a wide range of members, some from the rural southwest of Dorset, Somerset, Wiltshire, Devon and further afield in the UK, who might find it difficult to travel to an in person event. But our club attendees also include people from other countries and cultures, leading to a lively and diverse group of people.
Anyone who lives too far away to join an in-person Toastmasters Club, those in more rural areas, like Southwest of UK in Dorset, Somerset, Wiltshire, Devon and Cornwall.
Who might find these sessions useful?
- People without public transport or no car available.
- Single parents with young children, carers.
- Those too anxious to go to an in-person meeting.
We are open to anyone worldwide who can be online for 2 hours twice a month from 7.30pm UK time on 1st and 3rd Mondays.
Yes, you really can gain those vital communication skills in the comfort of your own home.

What our members say...
"TOASTMASTERS IS THE BEST THING EVER! It has changed me and my life and I tell anyone who will listen how great it is 😀 This has mostly been because of all of you and I can’t express enough how much I love you all and I’m so proud of the great things and magic that happens at each and every meeting! Facing and overcoming fear, developing confidence, and improving oneself is such an honourable thing to do as part of a supportive group."
“Salisbury Speakers has given me an opportunity to develop my public speaking skills in a warm and friendly environment. There is a great mix of experience among the group, from long standing members who offer feedback freely, to newbies like myself. As with all skills, speaking requires practice and training and Salisbury Speakers provides an opportunity to do both. On top of this, you will receive constructive feedback from experienced speakers enabling you to eliminate the umms and ahhs, pacing and over excited hand movements that new speakers often suffer from. My confidence has already soared.”
“As President, Salisbury Speakers has given me the opportunity to become a leader. I am learning how to manage a team to run the club and also to develop its members. Salisbury Speakers offers everyone the opportunity to develop their leadership skills by taking on roles within meetings or being part of the management team. There are currently opportunities to lead or support membership growth, public relations, education and many other areas.”
"Toastmasters has enhanced my confidence and skills when delivering prepared speeches, helped me with impromptu speaking, as well as giving entertaining club evenings with Salisbury Speakers listening to other members speeches and contributions. Practically, it enabled me to speak out recently against a planning proposal using a short prepared speech in a public Wiltshire Council meeting in front of a large audience. Most importantly, it allowed me to look forward to and enjoy my wedding speech and the day last summer, rather than being anxious about it'."
“Ever since I can remember, I have avoided public speaking like the plague. In secondary school I would call in sick if I was asked to present, in Law School I hid in the back of the class and pretended I was not there and during my career as a lawyer, I always had an excuse handy if I was asked to present to a group. Needless to say, my career aspirations were limited by my lack of confidence. When I realised my promotional objectives at work included presenting to the Board, I realised that I needed to do something about it, so I joined Toastmasters.”
“I’m frightened to death most of the time about ‘thinking out loud’ in public. I joined Toastmasters a few years ago. I’m now able to cover the cracks well enough with foundation, powder and paint but the fear factor never really disappears. I love learning and I’m curious to a fault. Helping to set up Salisbury Speakers has stretched me once again. I am constantly practicing and honing my communication skills from facilitating to mentoring; from presenting to appraising; sometimes challenging, sometimes accepting the status quo. The camaraderie is what keeps me at Toastmasters, and Salisbury Speakers has it in bucket loads.”
